DJ Clark Kent - part 2.
Posted on October 20, 2008 by giant steps
As promised in part 1 of our exclusive two part interview, DJ Clark Kent moves beyond “sneakers and records” to break down his opinions on race, the media, and role models. Pulling from his personal experiences, Clark Kent talks about the importance of personal responsibility and a positive attitude. This segment gives a more personal look into DJ Clark Kent and his opinions (which, if you watched part one, he’s never bashful in sharing) and most importantly, his attitude he carries towards everything he works at in life. Once again, we hope that you enjoy watching this segment as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
Thanks to our new http://vimeo.com/plus subscription, you can watch the video in all its HD glory right here. Come back next week to view our final segment of Issue 2, featuring Nai of StrictlyFitteds.com.

DJ Clark Kent.

Today’s an exciting day for us at NHTVSN, as we get to finally debut part 1 of our two part exclusive interview with DJ Clark Kent. When we started the NHTVSN video project, we wanted it to be a forum for our industry friends to wax poetic on anything they chose to talk about. Upon meeting with Clark, I realized that there was quite a lot going on that he was ready and willing to talk about, so much that we ended up with more footage than we knew what to do with. We broke the interview up in as logical a way as possible… this first segment covers some of the things you know him for - DJ, producer, sneaker aficionado, tastemaker, and more. It’s not every day that you get to interview a founding father of hip hop, and for that we’re very grateful.
Before we get started, a few thanks are certainly in order. First of all, to the Commissioner for making the introduction - without you, we wouldn’t have had this opportunity. Big ups to Todd Nisbet, Mr. Bee and the rest of the Frank’s Chop Shop team for opening up their venue to us and providing a perfect backdrop for our conversation. And finally, to DJ Clark Kent for sharing some very special memories with us.

Mezco Toyz.
Posted on September 2, 2008 by giant steps
My first Mezco toy, Letterman, was a gift from a friend:
(If this character looks familiar to you, that’s because Mezco was hired to develop this little guy who you may have seen on TV a few years ago - the design of Thirst was heavily based on Letterman)
I couldn’t just stop there… from Letterman, I went on to track down the entire Hoodz series, which then led to the Alien, Predator and Run DMC Mez-Itz toy series (all of which maintain space on my desk). So you’ll have to understand why upon reading that Mezco’s headquarters was just 15 minutes from where I live, I had to try very hard not to sound like a fanboy when I called them up to pitch this NHTVSN video segment you’re about to see right here.
Enjoy.

Episode 2 Trailer!
Posted on August 26, 2008 by giant steps
At long last, we’re proud to present the trailer for our 2nd NHTVSN Video Magazine episode. It’s been our vision from the start to use the NHTVSN media umbrella not only to produce graphic tees but also to highlight industry friends who are doing creative and innovative work through the magazine. We hope that you enjoy what this episode’s interviewees had to say. Episode 2 was directed by NHTVSN team member Kellen Dengler - segments begin posting here on September 1st. See you then.

Self-Centered.
Posted on July 7, 2008 by giant steps
Long-time friend and supporter Kam Moye dropped an EP entitled “Self-Centered” on his birthday a few weeks ago. You might know him better as Supastition, but the change in moniker is meant to represent a new direction in Kam’s music. If you’ve been following his stuff since “Seven Years of Bad Luck” you’ll be surprised at his new lyrical approach… for lack of a better term, it’s grown man rap. And as for the beats - he demonstrates his impeccable taste once again. This tightly assembled group of tracks is meant to whet listener appetites for his upcoming LP “Splitting Image” which is currently underway.
Perhaps the best part about this EP for you cheapskates is that Kam chose to give the EP away for free: you can download it at rappersiknow.com. It’s also better than most of the stuff you download illegally.

Stow Lake.
Posted on June 11, 2008 by tbd
This weekend we went Pedal-boating on Stow Lake in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. It’s a great way to spend a Summer afternoon, although the water looks like a mix of sewage, swamp-ness, wheatgrass shots and other mysterious liquids.
I steered us underneath this overhanging tree. Good times.
Or maybe you can just ask Jeff (Aux Delices) what’s in the water. He got pushed in.
